Dreamrift, a developer founded by former EA developers partly responsible for Henry Hatsworth, developers of Monster Tale, have been revealed to be the developers behind the 3DS Epic Mickey sequel Epic Mickey 2: Power of Illusion.
Dreamrift’s expertise so far is in sidescrolling platformers with 2D sprite art, and it seems confirmed that Power of Illusion will be a 2D playing game, though it’s not as yet confirmed if that’s with 3D or 2D art, but with Dreamrift at the helm the best guess would be 2D. Which is great as one of the best uses of the 3D effect is with good old fashioned parallax backgrounds.
Beyond the name, this 2D revelation puts more weight behind the belief that the 3DS iteration of Epic Mickey 2 is being designed as a true followup to the original Illusion series of Mickey games from the 16-bit era.
